It was the first time that trans kids, their families, and allies could openly address the new Department of Family and Protective Services commissioner.

They believe Stephanie Muth should arrange that any open kid misuse examinations, including a parent who provides gender-affirming care to their child be closed.

Transgender Texans and their allies stood up at a rare public meeting of the DFPS in Austin Friday.

Over a year prior, Gove. Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton requested the division to open child abuse investigations on families of trans kids who seek gender-affirming treatments. The case ended up in the Texas Supreme Court.

The case wound up in the Texas High Court.

Many individuals affirmed during public remarks in the interest of trans kids having the option to get orientation-attesting care.

"What would make me feel safe is if I could live in my home safely with my parents who love me and now have a fear of me being taken away from them when they've done nothing wrong," said trans teen Cass Crawford.

"We're hoping this change in leadership will be the turning of the page in what has been a dark chapter in the DFPS history," said Brad Pritchett with Equality Texas.

Furthermore, because the declaration was necessary for public remark and not a piece of a plan, the magistrate couldn't answer any inquiries or offer expressions.

Equality Texas estimates that there are about a dozen open cases as of last November.

Media reached out to DFPS to get updated numbers and comments.  But as of now, we have yet to hear back.
