the Army’s officials confirmed that the advanced variant of Patriot missile was
misfired during a major test of the Air and Missile defense battle command
system of the U.S. Army involving a tactical ballistic missile and a cruise
media reported that the failure occurred at White Sands Missile Range, New
Mexico, on Aug. 20.
Phil Rottenborn, the Integrated Battle Command System project manager within
the Army’s Program Executive Office Missiles and Space, confirmed that the Patriot
Advanced Capability-2 Guided Enhanced Missile was tried against the cruise
missile target, but the Patriot Missile Segment Enhancement missile to
intercept the tactical ballistic missile target was misfired.
