Texas gun control advocates plan to put stricter state laws surrounding firearms. The decision came after recent mass shootings incidents around the country, and due to an increase in gun violence here at home.

The nonprofits Texas Gun Sense and Giffords Owners for Gun Safety will join Democratic state representatives and senators to conduct a virtual press conference on Zoom at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. Giffords Owners for Gun Safety co-founded by former Arizona congresswoman Gabby Giffords, who has seriously injured a mass shooting in Tucson in 2011 (killed six people).

These groups are working together to push common-sense gun reforms being considered at the Texas Capitol this legislative session. Among other priorities, gun control advocates plan to go for universal background checks—before selling guns in Texas.
