
Rolls-Royce,
in a strategic partnership with British hypersonic-power experts Reaction
Engines is supporting new investment in the company.
This new partnership will help them developing high-speed propulsion systems for defense
and civil applications and help them explore the key thermal management
technology of Reaction Engines as a vital part of Rolls-Royce's gas turbine
engines and hybrid-electric systems.
Rolls-Royce
is planning to invest £20 million ($26 million) over the next two years, and
build an initial equity investment made in 2018. Other investors, including BAE
Systems, Boeing Horizon-X, and financial institutions may follow the trend.
This
announcement came into light as Rolls-Royce plans to invest in supersonic
flight.
