The Internet went into overdrive on Tuesday with a buzz that the 2026 World Cup Last would be held at AT&T stadium in Arlington.

ESPN FC, the organization's soccer feed, shared a report from ESPN Spanish language columnist John Sutcliffe guaranteeing that Dallas (we know, Arlington people, we know) was picked over New York and Los Angeles as the setting for the last match.

Media contacted the Dallas Sports Commission, who answered with an explanation that causes the report to appear to be a but premature.

"We accept that Dallas is the ideal host for the 2026 World Cup," said Dallas Sports Commission Leader Chief Monica Paul. "FIFA has been an unbelievable accomplice at each step of the bid cycle, and we expect a host city declaration in 2023. We're excited that soccer fans worldwide are enthusiastically watching for news from FIFA."

If the rumors are true, a FIFA World Cup final would bring big business for the metroplex, bringing travelers and jobs to the region.

The last time Dallas facilitated a World Cup match was a quarterfinal match in 1994 at the Cotton Bowl.
The 2022 World Cup in Qatar starts on Nov. 20 on FOX.
The U.S. will play its most memorable game against Wales on Nov. 21.
