Singer Narendra Chanchal was known for his devotional bhajans. Passed away at 80 on Friday in Delhi.
Sanjay Malik, Narendra Chanchal’s concert organizer for the last 25 years, said the iconic Bhajan singer died at around noon due to age-related issues. He shared this news with the media and said, “His health hadn’t been well for some time now. He had been admitted to the Apollo Hospital for two months. He had fallen quite weak. He breathed his last today.”
Chanchal was known for devotional bhajans. He performed at live events for a large part of his career and did songs like “Chalo Bulava Aaya Hai” from Avtaar and “Beshak Mandir Masjid Todo” from Bobby became popular overnight.
PM Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on Twitter.
Actor Manoj Bajpayee said, “Rest in peace #NarendraChanchal sahab !!! What a singer with such an inspiring voice. singing your songs now in your memory. god bless you soul with peace!!”
Singer-composer Vishal Dadlani said, “Shri #NarendraChanchal ji will be remembered forever through the songs he sang. I doubt anyone will ever walk up to Vaishnodevi without hearing his voice resounding through the hills.”
Singer Daler Mehndi wrote, “Deeply saddened to learn that iconic and most loved #NarendraChanchal ji has left us for the heavenly abode. In prayers for his soul to rest in peace. Heartfelt condolences to his family and legions of fans.”
