In a couple of weeks only, McKinney has its newly appointed District 1 council member for the second time.

According to the latest announcement from the city council, Angela Richardson Woods will now represent the district. This marks Woods, as the first black woman to serve on the city council.

Earlier this month, Pastor Chris Thornton was appointed as the city council when the seat was vacant after voters recalled La'Shadion Shemwell in November.

Last week, Thornton checked his current address that does not allow him to fit inside the district boundaries.

Because of the zonal rules set by the city, he cannot serve.
