The Dallas Mavericks hosted a drive-thru voter registration event at their headquarters today.

This event starts at 7 a.m. up to 2 p.m. and helps people register to vote ahead of the upcoming presidential election.

Rolando Blackman, the team's vice president of corporate relations, said, "I'm an immigrant. I came to this country from Panama City, Panama. And I think the important thing about this country and the wonderful thing is for all the services and all the things that you want out of this country, it's to be able to be an active participant. And I think this country gives you a great opportunity to do that. That's why the Mavs are here right now to do this voter registration drive."

Michael Finley, the Mavs' vice president of operations, said, "A lot of people go through life not knowing about the value of voting, the importance of voting. So what we are doing here is not only educating people about the importance of voting but getting them registered, allowing peoples to use their power through the vote."

The residents of Dallas County 18 or older can register at the event. They need to bring in a valid driver's license and social security number.

The Mavs' headquarters is located at 1333 N. Stemmons Freeway, across from the American Airlines Center.

You can register to vote until Oct. 5. Early voting starts on Oct. 1.

Nov. 3 is Election Day.
