For years, the Cowboy's defensive end has been open about his mental health issues, which have included low self-esteem at times. Whereas an injury, in-game gaffe, or fourth-quarter deficit may be an objective impediment for athletes, regard or praise may be a need obstacle for someone who thinks little of himself. A person gets told by the world that he is one thing. He believes he is someone else.

He'll have to deal with the cognitive dissonance for a while. Gregory noted earlier this month, "I think I handle defeat rather well, but I don't handle success especially well." "There are a lot of duties and things like that that come with success." That's something I've fought with since I was a child, and it's still an issue for me now. We talk about the significance of keeping a neutral mindset and never being excessively self-confident or gloomy about yourself.

“I believe that's what you have to do when you're going through a period of success and failure. That's how I believe you mature." Gregory is putting in a lot of time and effort to improve his skills.

The Cowboys are on a five-game winning streak, and they appear to be a Super Bowl contender for the first time in recent years. But, if a bye week allows for contemplation, Gregory, a man whose personal growth has enabled him to build a spectacular four-week run, is possibly the most astounding of them.
