Edge Middle School-A middle school in Collin County has been closed after eight positive COVID-19 cases were reported.
The Community Independent School District has confirmed that five students and three staff members at Edge Middle School in Nevada are positive COVID-19 cases.
The district sent a letter to all parents. It said, “This decision to shut down the campus facility and transition everyone to BravesID, for up to five consecutive school days, was not reached lightly, and was made solely with an abundance of caution and respect for our Brave family.”
The school building will be closed for five days for thorough cleaning. During that time, students will switch to virtual learning.
Community ISD has requested siblings of students at Edge Middle to switch to online learning, but those free of symptoms can continue f2f education.
According to Community ISD, only seven district staff members are in quarantine outside of middle school.
Nevada is just 40 miles northeast of Dallas.
