In Arlington, a café is now in the memory of a 7-year old boy who continues to inspire the Texas Christian University baseball team years after his death.

In 2016, Micah Ahern left a void in the family at the tender age of 7 after battling cancer.

His attitude to “never give up” inspired many people who knew him, including TCU’s baseball players.

His father inaugurated the Ground & Gold Co. Bakery to honor him. Some of the sales from the café go to organizations working on fighting childhood cancer.

Maurice Ahern said, “There’s a whole mix of tons of different emotions. It’s a dream and to be doing this amid crazy COVID and hopefully bringing joy to people just like Micah did when he was here on this earth.”

The new café and bakery is located off Interstate 20 and Bowen Road in Arlington.
