Airlines are doing everything possible to get more people on planes.

Companies believe that buying tickets in advance will assure them while the government passes another stimulus bill.

Airline carriers, like Southwest and American, are doing all things possible to sell seats. They are offering promo offers like buy-one-get-one-free and seasonal routes.

Still, it may not prevent airline workers from being furloughed at the end of the month.

American Airlines is facing low demand due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but the North Texas-based Airplane carrier is hopeful that this season routes will bring more passengers.

Paul Hartshorn Jr., a spokesman for the Association of Professional Flight Attendants, said, "I do think they're offering passengers routes where they want to go outside. National parks, skiing, things of that nature."

SMU economist Mike Davis said, "I mean, desperate is the right word. They're trying to do everything they can to get people to fill those seats."

Dallas-based Southwest Airlines will bring a promotional offer through Friday night: Buy one ticket and get a companion pass for free, terms, and conditions applied.

David added, "I think if Southwest, American, and the other airlines can provide enough carrots for people to get back on a plane once they'll get back into the habit of traveling."
