Kabir Khan is associated with directing some of Bollywood's most successful films. It includes New York, Ek Tha Tiger, and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, among others. Despite Ek Tha Tiger, which opened the door for one of Bollywood's most successful franchise films, he has kept away from franchises.
Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starred in Ek Tha Tiger (2012), introduced us to Tiger, a RAW agent, and Zoya, an ISI agent. Ali Abbas Zafar directed the sequel to the film Tiger Zinda Hai, which got released in 2017. Maneesh Sharma is now shooting Tiger 3, which is currently in production.
Kabir Khan recently revealed why he did not helm the sequel to EkTha Tiger in a recent interview. "I'm primarily a storyteller in my own right. I believe I will be finished with the story once I have completed the film. That character has served its purpose in my life. That character no longer exists in my life. I constantly wonder what would have happened to these characters if the movie had ended differently. I have a scenario in my head, but it hasn't piqued my interest enough to prompt me to write another novel featuring those characters, "He was open about it.
"Maybe 4-5 years down the line, suddenly a story comes along, or someone delivers a narrative about one of the characters that I have made, and I become extremely thrilled, then I say 'hey I want to do that,'" Kabir says.
