Oscar De
La Hoya left boxing ring after his last fight against Manny Pacquiao, almost 12
years ago.
Now 47
years old, De La Hoya talked to the media and stated that he is planning to
come out of his retirement and make a comeback professionally.
He told
the media that he will start sparring in the next few weeks.
This is
different from other comebacks such as Mike Tyson, De La Hoya (39-6, 30 KOs) said, because he is
planning to participate in "a real fight" and not some exhibition.
He
further added that he misses the ring, he loves boxing. Boxing has given him
everything that he has today and he just misses doing it.
"The
Golden Boy" won gold at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona for the United
States and received world title belts at six different weight classes before he
fought against Pacquiao.
He is
planning to fight at the 154- to 160-pound range.
