According to reports from the police officers, a 19-year-old SMU student was shot and killed in Downtown Dallas. The incident took place at 3 a.m.
This marks the city’s 198th homicide of the year.
The victim, identified as Robert Urrea, was found in the roadway at the intersection of Harwood and Jackson streets. He was a student at SMU and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Further reports from the officers state that Urrea was walking down the street when a white 4-door, possibly a Ford, with a sunroof and custom wheels pulled up.
Dallas PD Maj. Danny Williams said, “We have so much information on this one, we are asking the perpetrators to turn themselves in,”
Investigators found multiple surveillance cameras videos showing the interaction between Urrea and the suspects, but no images that police reviewed have been released so far.
Officers believe Urrea was leaving a Halloween party or a bar.
William said, “Detectives were able to locate surveillance video of the vehicle and suspects interacting with the complainant, and once the vehicle leaves, the complainant falls to the ground suffering from a gunshot wound.”
SMU acknowledged the police investigation but declined further comment for now.
