10-year-old shot while playing with a friend after finding a gun in his Dallas home

Dallas police said a 10-year-old was shot while playing with a friend in his backyard after they discovered a gun in the home.

The shooting happened not long before 9 p.m. Friday when officials were called about a shooting in the 300 square of Buttercup Lane.

According to reports from the responding officers, they met a 10-year-old and his dad. They told officials the 10-year-old was playing with another kid in the backyard when he ran into the home and said he had been shot in the arm in the wake of hearing a discharge.

The kid was taken to a clinic and later delivered.

After additional examination, police tracked down that the kid and the other youngster discovered a firearm in the home, and he was shot when it inadvertently went off.

Police said nobody had been captured, a making a gun available to a kid offense was made.
