Gulzar has discussed working with the late vocalist KK. Sherdill The Pilibhit Saga, directed by Srijit Mukherjee, was their most recent collaboration. Gulzar also mentioned that KK made his Bollywood debut with his song and that he was excited to work with the vocalist again for the forthcoming film. KK passed away recently, barely hours after performing at a concert in Kolkata, after suffering a heart arrest.
Gulzar and KK collaborated on Maachis, a singer's Bollywood debut. For Gulzar's 1996 film Chor Aye Hum Wo Galiyan, KK has sung the song Chor Aye Hum WoGaliyan. The film star Chandrachur Singh, Tabu, Om Puri, and Jimmy Shergill and were based on the insurgency in Punjab in the 1980s.
"Srijit aided me by incorporating me into his movie. I also had the opportunity to reconnect with KK after a lengthy absence. Chor Aaye Hum Wo Galiyan was KK's debut song, which he wrote for my film Maachis. My heart swelled with excitement when he arrived to sing Dhoop Bahne Do for Sherdil's The Pilibhit Saga."
"Regrettably, the song will be counted among KK's final tunes, as though he came to say his final goodbye," he added.
"KK was very excited for the song and sung it like his own," ShantanuMoitra, the song's composer, stated in a press statement. After two decades, he informed me, the music brought him Gulzar. He got joyed that he'd be performing this song live, believing that the youth needed to hear it."
