'Anek,' a political action thriller starring Ayushmann Khurrana, will be released on May 27. Director Anubhav Sinha describes the film as "difficult."
Anubhav Sinha and Ayushmann Khurrana have shown to be a successful combination, as their debut film, 'Article 15,' broke new ground and received universal acclaim from both audiences and critics. The trio returns with 'Anek,' a hard-hitting entertainment that digs into a subject that hasn't been tackled in the Indian film scene before.
'Anek,' a political action thriller starring Ayushmann Khurrana, is about an Indian undercover cop (played by Ayushmann) who would rise to the top and help India win. The film got shot in some of the most beautiful locales in the North East. While 'Article 15' caused a stir in the business, 'Anek' has also piqued interest due to its concept and message for the country.
Anubhav Sinha said of the film, "When I met Ayushmann before Article 15, I went to him with a film that I thought was more from his universe." I just occurred to bring up Article 15 when we were talking about social topics. He asked if he could read it. And as he read it, he fell in love with it and wanted to continue the dialogue. And the film was born. 'Article 15' demonstrated Ayushmann's versatility, and with 'Anek,' I was able to explore yet another aspect of his artistry. The film was tremendously complex for both of us, but it was a tale we believed deserved to be shared."
Ayushmann Khurrana plays the lead role. 'Anek,' produced by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series and Anubhav Sinha's Benaras Mediaworks, is planned to hit theaters on May 27, 2022.
