Dallas ISD Student Injured in Downtown High-Rise Shooting

A shooting at a high-rise apartment building in Downtown Dallas on Thursday afternoon injured three people, including a Dallas ISD student. The incident occurred at The Continental at Mercantile Place apartment building, located at 1801 Commerce Street, around 12:15 p.m.

Dallas police Lt. Tramese Jones confirmed that three individuals sustained injuries and received hospital treatment. Their conditions remain unclear. One of the injured is a Dallas ISD student. The district confirmed that the student is hospitalized and expected to recover but did not reveal the student’s age or school.

Police have not identified the shooter or made any arrests. Lt. Jones said that investigators are still looking into the incident and did not provide details about the motive or the shooting’s circumstances.

Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the 911 call at 12:18 p.m. and sent multiple units, including five rescue vehicles. Two units transported patients to the hospital. Fire and police officials gathered outside the building on Continental Street.

Authorities closed off traffic on Commerce Street between Ervay and St. Paul streets while they conducted their investigation.
