Excel Subtotal Functions - How You Can Use?

Use Subtotal Functions With Filtered Data:

First, you have to create formulas to determine the subtotal and also the average values of the filtered data. Then you have to select cell in the data set. Now, you have to go to Home, and then you have to select Sort & Filter and then click on Filter. Here, just use the drop-down arrows and filter the worksheet data. At the end, check the value changes when you select different filter data.

Use Subtotal Function With Hidden Rows:

To count the number of rows in a worksheet, first you have to open the worksheet which contains multiple rows of data. Then you have to select the cell which contains the count of visible rows. Now, in the function bar, you have to enter =SUBTOTAL. At this point, Excel will suggest a function i.e. double-click the SUBTOTAL function. In the Function Arguments dialog box, just enter the SUBTOTAL function, and then go to Formulas. After this, you have to select Math & Trig and then SUBTOTAL. Now, the drop-down menu will appears, here you have to double-click the 102 – COUNT function_num argument. At this point, just type a comma (,). Now, in the worksheet, you have to select the cells which you want to include in the formula. Here you have to press Enter key to see the result in the cell. Now, you have to select the cell which contains the count of the visible and hidden rows. In the function bar, you have to enter =SUBTOTAL. Here, Excel will suggest a function and you have to Double-click the SUBTOTAL function. In the drop-down menu, you have to double-click the 2 – COUNT function_num argument, and then type a comma (,). In the worksheet, you have to select the cells just to include in the formula, and then you have to press Enter key. At the end, you have to Hide several rows of data.
