A Stephen F. Austin State University football team player who graduated from Mansfield Summit High School, LaCoryien Washington was shot in his head while he was coming back from Halloween House Party at Fort Worth.
The college football player was on a holiday and an innocent bystander when someone shot him. Though he is expected to recover soon, his family is angry at such type of behavior shown by the shooters.
While attending a press conference, LaCoryien’s coach stated that more than 100 people have come to see him in the hospital and he seems to be doing well now. His family thanked God for showering blessings on their child.
Kamren Washington, the younger brother of LaCoryien Washington watched the entire incident when his brother was shot. He said that they were coming out of a Halloween party in Fort Worth just before 1 a.m. Sunday and heading towards their car when someone shot. When he looked at his brother, he was shot.

According to medical reports, LaCoryien was shot right between the eyes. His younger brother immediately called 911 and then called his mother. Officers rushed him to JPS Hospital. The doctors found that the bullet had traveled to the right side of his skull. Soon, the news spread amongst his well-wishers, coaches, teammates — both at SFA and friends from Mansfield Summit High School and family members.
SFA Coach Colby Carthel said that whatever happened with LaCoryein is not more than a miracle. After such a shooting incident, it is quite hard to believe that he still had a function of all four of his limbs and all of his senses.
LaCoryien’s family said that after having surgery, he is good and making everyone laugh, as he used to do earlier.
Officers are investigating this case and trying to find the likely suspect.
