Today, Bombay High Court has put a stay order on Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Athiya Shetty starrer Motichoor Chaknachoor that was expected to hit the screen on October 10.
Debamitra Biswal, aged 40 had filed a complaint against the filmmaker Woodpecker Movies Private Limited claiming that she was not paid her dues. Biswal, the writer and the director, filed a commercial petition before the court.

According to the statement given by Biswal, there was an official contract signed between the filmmakers and Biswal that claimed that she was supposed to get Rs 11 lakh for her work as director of the film. But now the company is trying to avoid the contractual obligations as per the Writer Story and Film Director Agreement dated 26.04.2018 between them.
According to Kapadia, she was working on the script for five years and when she presented it before producers, they really liked it. Then a contract was signed between then for three movies. The first one being Motichoor Chakhnachoor which means, she was supposed to get Rs 11 lakh but was paid only Rs 6 lakh.
After getting no response from the producers on multiple attempts by Biswal and her lawyer, Biswal's lawyer, Dhruti Kapadia stated that the film producers were given notices to present themselves before the court, but they failed to appear and at last, the order was passed.
