Arlington: Police officer shoots and kills a 30-year old woman while targetting at a dog

Arlington police officer fatally shot and killed a 30-year old woman while he was targeting at an aggressive dog.
According to the reports from the Tarrant County Medical Examiner, 30-year-old women have been identified as Margarita Brooks. She was shot and killed when she was passing through a grassy area near Canton Drive and North Collins Street yesterday. Someone had called police officers around 5 p.m. for a welfare check.

Further reports from officers confirm that the responding officer approached her for a regular check on her. All of a sudden an aggressive dog began barking and ran toward him. Officer pulled out his weapon and shot at the dog. He then heard this woman screaming and realized that he has done a mistake. Though Brooks was immediately rushed to the hospital, she was pronounced dead. The dog was taken into custody and shifted to Arlington animal shelter following regular check out process.
Latonya Stotts, who lives in the nearby area said that a lot of people are upset from the incident. She said that whatever happened wasn’t believable. She doesn't believe that the woman was a danger. She lived with her fella and was really a nice person.
The entire incident was caught on a body camera. As of now, it is quite unclear whether the officer will be charged or not.
