Texas: Crane sank into the wet ground, nearly hits a house in Irving

A crane almost fell onto a house yesterday in the Hackberry Creek neighborhood, Irving. The incident happened around 11 p.m. when storms passed through that area.

After the storm hit the area, Utility workers were working to remove the transformer behind a house using the crane upon Waterford Drive.

According to reports from the workers, they were testing the crane before beginning their job when all of sudden, one of the legs of the crane sank into the wet ground.

Further reports from the woman living in the same house said that her 14-year-old son came to her to let her know that he felt like house shake. She immediately rushed outside to see what was happening and it was a huge crane at about a 45-degree angle above her home. It was then she heard utility workers banging on her door. The woman, her 14-year old son and her mother came out safely. None of the family members was hurt.

The utility crew rushed to bring a second crane to stabilize the leg of the first one. They are still working and trying to remove it even today.
