UNT Dallas students are helping one of their own by repairing a home damaged in a drive-by shooting.
In January attack, Jaylon Miller’s nephew was killed and his home was damaged in a drive-by shooting incident. Miller was also shot five times. Since then, he has moved into a dorm on campus to continue his studies but his family was relocated to a hotel.
Yesterday afternoon, some UNT Dallas students including student veterans and members of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity started repairing Miller’s bullet-riddled home in South Dallas.
They are working on painting; new windows, carpeting and more work from the donations extended by a Home Depot through Community Outreach Housing to help the family.
Their goal is to bring back family to their home by the end of this month.
Dallas police officers are still searching for the suspects in the drive-by shooting.
