Taapsee Pannu starrer 'Thappad' gets three-months tax waiver in Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh Congress government has recently announced that the Taapsee Pannu-starrer film "Thappad" will be exempted from the State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) for three-months. Directed by Anubhav Sinha, the film deals with the sensitive issue of domestic violence and is expected to hit the screen, this Friday.

One of the top officials of the Commercial Tax Department confirmed that this film will be exempted from SGST, taking its subject and message into consideration. The officers reported that all Single-screen cinemas and multiplexes in MP have been strictly asked not to take SGST on tickets of this film.
 
For now, film ticket price contain 18 % GST -- SGST and Central Goods and Services Tax at 9% each.
 

In this film, Taapsee will play the character of an upper-middle-class educated woman who is forced to be in her marital relationship even after her husband slaps her.

Pannu is one of the active members of the film fraternity who helped police crackdown students of Jamia Milia while they were accusing the government that was trying to stifle the voices of dissent against the Citizenship Amendment Act.
